A Little Scottish Holiday

A Little Scottish Holiday

At the end of August I had a little break from knotting and took the fam off to Scotland for a week!

We took our old VW Campervan (Murtle) and drove north - for a long time.

We stopped and set up camp whenever we got tired for the day and took in the beautiful scenery made even more dramatic by the weather.

We were meandering up to Fortrose Bay Campsite, Inverness. Rob and I stayed here a few years ago when we drove the North Coast 500 in awld Murts and we absolutely loved it.

As we are a tad slower than regular vehicles and travelling with a very active 3 year old we broke the long journey down over a few days taking the scenic routes and staying in spots similar to this, safely tucked away from the main roads.

It was one big adventure after the next, scaling waterfalls, watching for witches, finding fairies, sprites, goblins and even the odd troll hiding under a bridge.

After about 4 days we made it to Fortrose Bay and parked up right on the sea front, the van was in desperate need of a sort out! Once everything was done we were able to sit back and enjoy a glass..cough bottle... of fizz. We had the next 3 nights here taking in he fresh sea air, dolphin watching and spending some much needed quality time together.

We were so sad to leave the campsite, we will absolutely be booking longer here next time but it was time to head home.

We had 2 more nights of all 3 of us sleeping in the van and after I had been headbutted in the lip by Adeline at 4 in the morning we finally gave in and booked a Premier Inn down the road from Edinburgh Zoo.

Finally we made it home and it was time to start drying everything out and get myself ready for Wolsingham show that weekend!
